Can someone please help me time is of the essence and i have a cat who always near the cage!!!!!!!!!
the only thing you can do is buy one with a lock in the lid thats the same size as the tank.

I usually get the all metal tops with the metal locks....they snap tight over the edge of the aquarium for sure fit.
With the old style tops about the only thing you can do is add weight to the top so he can't push it up, flat piece of slate or a heavy book.

The reptile section at your nearest Petsmart should have secure fitting screen lids for most of the standard aquarium/terrarium sizes.

My local Petsmart didn't have any lids for my aquarium, so I took the measurments and took it to a different pet shop in town, and all they had were the standard screen lids without locks on it, so i just weigh it down with a cd organizer and my heat lamp on top.

Don't they sell locks separately at petsmart and petco? I thought I saw them there...

You can buy screen kits from Home Depot. then you can make the lid to fit as tight at you want and yoiu can make a lock for it very easy , if you need further instruction , let me know with a PM

I just put slate rocks on top of my lids that don't fit "correctly" or aren't tight fitting. This seems to work.
