Hi,
I'm new to forums and I had a question that I was hoping someone on this forum could answer. How does one become a "Certified Breeder"? I don't want to have any herp farms, I only have a pair of bearded dragons and a pair of corn snakes that mate once a year and have babies once a year, but some pet stores will only buy from a "Certified Breeder", so it makes it difficult to find somewhere to sell the newborns after they're born even though I only deal with one clutch a year. If anyone knows about becoming a "Certified Breeder", whether it's a training course, or a piece of paper you have to buy with your name on it, I'd just like to know. Thanks :)

From my knowledge I've never heard of a course or a certificate for being a "certified breeder". The reptile world hasn't gotten that far along quite yet. I think your pet stores are a little odd if they are telling you that. Besides, you'd get more money selling them privately over the internet.

I haven't heard anything about Canadians having to be a certified breeder in our country. I do only live in Ontario so I don't know about any other Province.

Maybe for dogs or cats but not reptiles.

Ask the petstore thats telling you that. To the best of my knowledge no such thing exists in Canada. Its likley the stores own policy, Mark

Thank you to everyone who's replied :) I didn't think that there was any such thing in Canada because I had never heard of it before nor could I find any information about it online.
