Ok I have a two year old female leopard gecko "Squirt" and she has successfully produced offspring for me in the past. So I haven't bred her with my male for about a year and she is prego again and she has built a nest area and isn't laying the eggs! Every other time she built a nest it was after she laid the clutch. So she won't eat obviously and her tail is just getting smaller! Iam growing worried about her i don't want her to die on me! Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Well do you happen to know about when she became egg heavy? I'm hesitant to say gravid since she wasn't bred, but I know of female lizards that will lay eggs regardless of being bred or not, keep an eye on her though if she gets to bad you may need to take her to the vet, she have become "egg bound".....it's just so hard to say without knowing some kind of time table.

What kind of nest area does she have available? Have you tried the plastic container with a hole cut in the side filled with damp moss?

ok well she has appeared to have eggs developing for a couple months i would say. i have my two females in a twenty long with bed-a-beast, but she has always made her nests w/out any trouble. now she just lays on the heating pad. what would the vet do? cut them out? and what kind of cost would there be?

thanks,

Well not saying that she is, because I don't know the situation but usually when liazrds get egg bound and they have to remove the eggs, they usually take the ovaries as well so it doesn't happen again. It's like all surgery processes it most likely will not be very cheap.

it's either let her die or pay X amount of money, i suppose i will call a vet tomorrow and see how much it will run me. she has always been a good pet and has had beautiful babies for me already so if she doesn't anymore that's ok. she was one of my first leos too.
