Hey SnakeGuru,
Just wondering what the dimensions were on that there boa stacker. I wanna build a group of stackers like that 4 1 of my tegus , one of my red tails, and one 4 my 5 ft newest burm, leaving one empty 4 a spare. Except the one on top.

Each individual cage measures 4ftx2ftx18" high (more of a male rack and sub-adult system) I did use 1/4" plexi yes. The top cage is just a spare I had it's not actually built into the rack but that one is 3ftx2ftx2ft.
Coating is a mix, I do 4 coats of outdoor latex paint for the base coat, then accents in enamel paint, then 5 to 7 coats of Min-Wax Poly-crylic for the clearcoat.
Then seal all the joints with clear silicone.

My oh my thats alot of coats, is that really necessary, or is it ur personal pref. .. Is it possible to use just 4 c
oats of poly crylic? Or 2 coats of outdoor latex paint and then 4 coats of poly?

LOL, yeah I suppose you could less coats....I'm just an over achiever, I kind of go by the feel of it after I'm finished. I guess if I were going to do less coats I would slash a couple off the base coat and keep with the poly....though I woudl guess you could by with 3 and 3 I would think.
The Enamel is the white part of the cage....I'm not sure what kind of paint job you were going to do, but basically that is just for looks, doesn't really do anything for the coating.

On my birch plywood cage i used just 5 coats of poly. Is that ok?

Oh yeah that should be just fine.....there's actually a lot of people who get by on less coats. Like I said I'm just an over achiever. LOL
