Forum's looking very smart:)

Anyway, since I last posted I have acquired two new snakes, an Albino Kingsnake (Nigel) and a female baby Royal (Ball) Python, Rosie (pics to follow). Sadly I lost my beloved Cali Kingsnake, Sammy a few weeks ago. I had intended to breed her with Nigel but it wasn't to be. Sammy got egg bound last year and we'd to get help for her (that's how we discovered she was female - she was sold to us as a male). Like many snakes who get egg bound, their average lifespan after that is only about a year. It was almost a year since she got egg bound. It wasn't entirely unexpected but still a shock to us. I still haven't cleaned out her viv - as yet I can't bring myself to do it daft as that sounds. I really loved her and miss her badly but life goes on. She was such a character. She's buried in our garden. The ironic thing was I was going to introduce Nigel to her the week she passed away. I still can't believe she's gone:no:

At the moment I have 15 snakes in total, 16 when we can find another female Kingsnake of breeding age.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss! It's never easy when one of your pets passes on, regardless of whether you "expected" it or not. I hope you find a nice girl for Nigel. :)
I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your other snakes... and if you have a nice pic of Sammy, please post that as well! :) I think we'd all love to see what a lovely snake she was. :)
Take care
Annie

I've just put pics of my snakes in the gallery - including two of my favourite pics of Sammy. In the second pic of Sammy you can see in her face how gentle a snake she was. I loved her dearly and miss her terribly. I still haven't cleaned out her viv but it's something I know I'll have to do soon as Nigel needs to come out of the quarantine viv.

Sammy was a one-off. Very special.

I had a snake that was special to me. Unfortunately, she was stolen last year. She was an absolutely gorgeous salmon boa who was just the sweetest tempered girl ever. I had just finished buying a male for her, in hopes of breeding her. :( I still have the male... and hope to find a boa breeder around here so I can pick out another female. Nothing will ever replace Sheila, but I would like to get another female again. :P
The pictures are nice... Sammy was a very good looking snake!
Take care
Annie

Losing any animal is rough - sorry for your loss. Good luck with the future breeding, though. I'm usually a strict boid person, but I had a mexican black kingsnake in my collection a few years ago - totally fell in love with it! Kingsnakes are fun :)
