About a week ago I traded a juvenile ball python for a baby yellow ratsnake. After letting him get acclimated for six days, yesterday I fed him a pinkie which he accepted readily. This morning I looked in his cage and noticed shed skin in many pieces. I've observed him daily since I got him and he never went into blue before the shed, so I didn't get the humidity over 50%.
Is this common? Is not bluing a common thing for young snakes? Is it a sign of ill health? He appears perfectly healthy otherwise, and my temperatures have been optimal. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It is very possible he was blue before you bought him. It can take a week from blue phase to final shed. As young ball pythons shed alot, it would be a good ideal to keep a moist hide or always keep the humidity at 60-70% and increase to around 80% during shed.
