Just realised my tri colours aren't Heterodon... Nevermind. =S

Very gorgeous hoggies! That'll be my next snakey aquisition. Probably a western but I do like the appearance of the tricolors.

I love the westerns, little snakes with big personalities. :D

Beautiful hogs. I really like the western hognoses. I just got a pair of them. I have always wanted one, but had a friend who always talked me out of it. She said that they were picky eaters. I'll have to say that my male doesn't care to eat very often, but the female is a machine. I absolutely love them.

I had some trouble getting mine to eat soon after I first got him, a change of cage and he hasn't missed a meal since! :D

Will probably be a different story when he is all grown up...

So now you got me wondering what was so different about the cages that he would eat in one, but not the other. More details please.

Snakes tend to do better in a more contained space feeding wise when young. Hatchlings are best kept in small rubbermaids etc. until well established feeding. You can leave the prey anywhere in there & it will still be right by them. Harder for them to ignore it & instincts will kick in hopefully.

Oh & nice HNs BTW Mark
