Ingesting plastic?

Ok... so I have had to change the way I ventilate my rubbermaids due to space. The old rubbermaids (breeder cages) have screen tops... the new ones though need to be stacked so I just drilled loads of holes all around the top 3 - 4 inches of them (they are 9" high total). What I was wondering is what happens if the rats actually ingest the burring (my bits were a bit dull hence the holes arent finished off nicely - lol... way too many holes to do it by hand like I do for my snakes)? I'm not sure if they will even bother doing anything, and if they do I'm not sure if they will just file it off or if they will actually ingest it. If they did happen to ingest it would it do any harm? To the snakes I mean... rats seem to be indestructible when it comes to eating stuff like that...lol!

I really doubt that they'll actually eat the plastic, they'll probably just chew it up into smaller pieces, rats are stupid but not that stupid.

Rats are the most intelligent of all the rodents. They're trainable to a more elaborate degree than any other rodents, that's for sure.

Dom: Sarcasm it was, I agree, rats are far too smart for their own good (certainly smarter than my dog, who WOULD eat the plastic).
Although sometimes I wonder where those smarts go under certain circumstances. Ex: #1.One of my little rats once ate something when I had her out that made her foam at the mouth, I nearly had a coronary...#2.One of my big rats once walked straight off of the arm of the couch, kerplunk, right onto the floor!

Dom: yup. well, my entire dad's side is pure french. My mom's side is pure ukrainian. So i'm a 50/50... what an odd mix though...lol!
