I Need Some Advice

I currently own a 1yr old ball python named Voodoo. Voodoo is everything i could want in a snake and is the first snake i ever owned. But now i belive i have the expierince to aquire a new snake. But my problem is i don't know what to get and size is not a problem. I actually perfer bigger snakes. I have been told that red tails and jungle carpet pyhtons are great snakes. But i have always wanted a Emerled tree boa but have heard mixed opinions on this snake. Please help me by informing me what would be a good snake that does not mind being handeled. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Out of your three choices I and your preferences this is how I would rank them:

#1. Boa - A larger bigger bodied snake, usually very gentle and personable. The are a great introductory species into the giant contstrictors.

#2. Carpet python - Stays smaller then the boa in both length and girth, but often makes up for that with its pattern and colors. Hatchings can be nippy, but with a little work most grow out of it.

#3. Emerals - These guys are more of a speciatly snake, very touchy to their enviroment so the husbandry has to be just right. Not a snake to handle, as most will bite readily.

I agree that a boa is number1 thats what I would pick.

I also agree with the boa. You might also want to try a burmese python or a dwarf retic. Burms are larger, heavy bodied snakes, commonly available and very tame/lethargic as a general rule. The dwarf reticulated python is a bit harder to come by, but has a great pattern and nice boa-size.

All great choices but i go for arborial all the way ! Its nice to have a snake you don't have to look for under stuff.

Fist choice EMERALD !! Awsome display snake allways in your face and very predictable.If you do your homework and set up right they are easy to care for. Granted if you are bit you feel it unlike many other snakes but both of mine will put up with a lot before getting anoyed.

2nd would be a carpet an other good display snake. I just got one myself, she's usually perched and very predictable.

And i don't have any lrg snakes any more pers. pref.I do have the smaller versions ( hog island) but they are hidden all the time. Great pet though.

My suggestion would be just about anything other than an ETB they are very sensitive & require lots of specialized care, not a begginer snake at all, but one for experieced keepers. I would suggest a Carpet Python & if you have your heart set on a Green Boid go with a Green Tree Python, far more hardier than an ETB & they fair far better. Mark

Go for the boa or the carpets... I really do not reccommend the ETB. At least not for now, you do not have enough experience as I can read... They are quite fragile and they have quite bad temperaments and HUGE teeth!!!

The important thing is to choose something you like and that you can take care of...
