It probably wont kill it (although it certainly could happen), but I would not suggest housing them together due to putting them at risk for something like that too happen. Also due to their larger size its much safer for you to house them seperately. In order to house them together properly you need to quarentene them for at least a few months, you need a complete seperate set up (for an adult if its an adult) in case you need to seperate them, you need to work on extra conditioning especially during feeding time, you need about double the size you would need for one adult, and even after all of that you need to be prepaired for something to happen that otherwise wouldnt if they were kept seperate to begin with. In the end your really not saving room or making things easier by housing them together, remember by nature snakes are mainly solitary, which doesnt change really in captivity.

If they're both babies of opposite gender then I definatly wouldnt house them together untill both are of a healthy breeding weight, because its always possible for the male, who develops faster, to breed with the female before shes ready.

Pet stores dont always do what is right. Many times they house multiple animals together even though they may or may not know its risky. The best bet is to always house your animals individually.

The goal of petstores is profit, which often comes above animal wellbeing. The more animals they have in less space means more money they can make. Also many petstores dont have a clue about the proper care of snakes.
