new to this purhased a female corn snake to go with our male corn snake. Is it ok to put them both together all the time, we do want to breed them this winter. Also have problem with temperature the only thing on is the heat mat and temp is still showing 90 f. Please help.

Nope seperate homes is always best. They will almost breed for sure if together, pretty much a given if cooled or not. If temps aren't where you want them get a dimmer & "tweek" it to where you want them. Mark

thats kinda weird i always found that seperating them before mating works best or just seperation altogether and only putting them together in mating season

Not yet he doesn't, he says this winter, which is when they should be seperated & cooled of course, not bred. What I was getting at is if they aren't ready to breed right now, don't put them together as it is breeding season right now afterall & they will breed. If they are of breeedable size now & he's ready to deal with it, throw them together, if not wait. I always recomend seperate housing except for breeding. Mark

ya i got what you meant by that but ya i've keep a couple pairs like that and they didnt breed until i seperated them but better safe then sorry

Every year I get calls form folks having corns housed together laying eggs & what they should do. "We didn't want to breed them, what do we do?" Get another tank & keep them seperate works best. Also your point is valid as sometimes males housed with females year round make poor breeders. They don't want what is always there, but if only offered at the right times they will breed up a storm, Mark

exactly like they where house together so long that idk they just didnt seem to have that drive unlike the other boys which would taste the air and go nuts
