lost ball python

I was on vacation and had a friend watching my house and my 5 month ol ball python escaped. That was about a week ago. I have torn apart my basement loking for him. Do snakes go up stairs? I was also wondering where good places to look for it are and how long can he survive without food?

ok you have managed to lose one of the least active species of snakes you could own. that is a good thing lol. there is probably a very good chance that your ball is within a few yards of its enlosure. you need to look in places that are attractive to snakes. anywhere near a heat source or a very tight space are good places to start. dont worry about your snake starving, they can easily go months without eating. they could easily go up stairs if they wanted but i doubt a ball would bother. your best bet is, as i stated earlier, to look near heat sources and in tight spots very close to his enclosure. good luck and make sure you get him a more secure cage so this doesnt happen again lol!

um if your down stairs try under either the drier or if you have one in your basement a fridge that seems to be a favorite

Look where you wouldn't think. Tight places or places where it is warm. Near a window if there is one near. I hadone get away as you did and he never left his room. If there is a box near look in it as Balls love to hide in such places. Dont worry as a bll can go months without eating nd when it gets hungry it will come out looking for you. Balls are goog climers and it may have gone uo the stairs but i doubt it. I say It's some place close to its cage. Good luck finding it.

damn, sorry to hear... well the things to do has prettymuch been said. and i dunno if this helps but a friend of mine lost his ball. found it 6 months later under his sofa. just goes to show, they might stick around a while ;)

Hi, I lost a snake once and she was inside the back of my washing machine. There was a small hole in the back of it and she got in, you might want to check in there if you've got one before doing laundry! Good luck in the search. Oh, another idea is to put a space heater on somewhere in the basement and the snake might go towards the heat.

Hi...First off don't lose hope. My male eascaped and was gone for over 3 months. Until my neighbor found it in his kitchen one morning when he went to make coffee. Bet that woke him up lol. You can try putting flour on the floor of your basement to track him. Can get messy but since they are nocturnal hunters, if he's around he'll be out moving around at night. If you have baseboard, check there. And like everyone else said, check places that tend to get warm such as behind TVs, fridges, etc. Good luck.
