View Full Version : How often should my leo shed?
His name is murphy. He's about 2 or three years old. He's about seven (ish) inches long. I feed him once every two or three days. Medium sized mealworms. I also give him a calcium powder. I don't use my lighting often though I do use the heat lamp often. He seems perfectly healthy except for he hasnt shedded his skin in months. I really don't know what's wrong. Or if anything is wrong. Help?

I don’t really think that anything is wrong. I have seen some leos go 9 months without shedding, but I have also seen some shed every month. It just depends if you have all of the lighting, heating, etc., right. On another note, if you are feeding him every 2-3 days, does he have food inbetween feedings? He should have food at all times. But I doubt that is the cause of him not shedding.

The other thing to consider is that your leo may be shedding during the night and eating it all before you have a chance to see him go through it. They shed at different rates depending on growth spurts, stress, environmental conditions, etc.

well i don't know about that unless dolly isn't paying that much attention to his/her leo but you would be able to tell before he was going to shed and yes my leos shed and eat it at night before i wake up but i usually know the night there going to shed

Is your leo a ghost? Ghosts always have a dullish color making it impossible to tell when they are going to shed. Is the tail nice and round (fat)?
What does the tail size have to do with sheding? If you don't mind me asking?
