females in BC

I cant find any female ball pythons in BC! (normal, adult). If anybody has any information that would be greatly appreciated. I live in a pretty rural area and nobody around here breeds them. I would like to start.

The chance you will find an adult is slim, most people keep there adult females

If you contact Henry Piorn at A1 reptiles you might be able to get one, you will probably pay a premium for one mind you but getting one isn't out of the question.

He has no adults he sellin, I tryed when purchasing somthin else off of him.. Its breeding season and most are being bred.

Jessica 101, it is not that hard to find an adult female. Some breeders has adult girl for sale. However even you get an adult this year and most likely they won't breed for you because of being in a new place. The best way to do is to get a 2005 offspring and keep them for a year or so and breed them when they are mature. Normaly a female become mature when their 3rd winter and reach 1.5 kg in heathy conditions.
Beside, If you are interseting to breed them, it is more important to buy quaility aniamls for your breeding stock.

Yeahhh I know its good to get a quality female but I really just dont have the money. Im only seventeen and i need to save the money I have for school. I just wanted to try breeding, Ive never done it before. Ive been into reptiles since I was a little kid but im no expert. Thanks for the info though.

Are you in a rush? If not just buy a baby and wait a couple years. Adult females can run a pretty penny when they are availible

Yeah youre right, that would probably be the best option. Ive had my male for almost 2 years now. Somebody in Edmonton is selling a female for 300 that weights 560gr, have you any idea how big of a snake that is, im not good with measurements. And do you know anything about shipping snakes? Ive never had experience with that before and can't seem to find any helpful information on it.

Normaly a breeder will ship their reptiles via air cargo and you will collect them at the nearest airport. But it also depends on the season and temperture. Last year I pick up seven ball babies form Ontario and collect them at Vancouver airport . I paid $127 for seven. They were packed nicely in a foam box. There isn't many price different between a quality normal and a ugly noraml. It all about timing. Keep check the classfield ad and sometimes you will come across very good one for a decent price.

I am now have nine Ball pythons, one Pastel male, six normal female and one 50 percent possive het Caramel male. They are the result of three year research, I 've been selected very carefull and bite the best that I can found. The funny thing is they are not more expensive than the poor quality one. If you are really looking into breeding, I would suggest you get a Het male and a normal female to start with. either albino or ghost, a het male may cost only two or three hundreds, but it is very rewarding when you hatch out a morph down the road.

Try David Kwok in BC - I believe it is just davidkwok.ca. He is a good guy and has great animals. I recently purchased a possible het for albino that was in the same weight and price range as the one you mentioned. Jim
