I recieved a bearded dragon from my work last week who had his head severly mutilated by his fellow cage mates. As a result from the trauma my vet believes he is more then likely blind. My question was has anyone here ever owned a blind dragon and if so could you describe to me how you went about daily feeding while it was a jeuvie and as an adult.
Thanks

Good for you for thaking the lil guy in. I don't know about the blindness but just wanted to tip my hat to your kindness:bounce:

Its great to hear you took him in instead of just putting him to sleep like most others would CONGRATS TO YOU!!! I haven't done this myself but I would gently use a forcefeeder for him and hopefully over time he'll get use to it but this is an idea that just poped in my head right now so I'm not sure it works.

that depends on how old/large he is. If he was eating greens, placing it in front of him and rubbing it on his snout should do it. I rescues a blind tegu and don't have any problems with her eating. For protien I would recomend silkies. They can be hand fed with a tweezers easily.

Good luck and God Bless.

You could set it on the floor and move your index finger and see if it reacts, or see if it reacts to a light being turned on or off in a dark room. If it does turn out to be blind then I would suggest hand feeding. Also when feeding greens crinkle up the greens and smash them so they smell a little stronger and are easier to find.

Good luck.
