my female leopard gecko is doing very very poorly....i really do think shes about to die
shes been doing fine,eatting/drinking/pooping
then i noticed she hadnt pulled off her skin to shed
she seemed very listless
so i bathed her and cleaned her up and put her in a seperate tank from the male
today i made up some chicken babyfood/water/vitamins/calcium to give her from an eyedropper
ive noticed she had a blue stumach and is gasping everyonce in a while
her face almost seems a bit swollen along her jaws but that may just be me
my tank is 30 gal 95 hot side and 78-80 cool side
theres a moist hide with moss and 2 hides placed arounf
the substrate is old newspaper and tile
they both eat superworms or mealworms/crickets
they have a water and calcium dish
the male looks fine and healthy
they have been together for 3 years and the male is very gentle and good with her
im so worried as they are my first 2 lizards and im having no idea whats wrong
i looked to see if there was eggs and i cant make out any
please help any advice would be great
and i have no herp vets anywhere near me...well they are 2 hrs away

no i havent found out anything so im still quite baffled
my male n this female were rescues i got about a year ago and horrible conditions
were on sand ,wrong temps and were fed 2 crix a day
the male was about 5 inches and skin n bones and the female wasnt in any better shape
last year she laid 2 eggs every 2 weeks for about 6 months and is a poor eatter even tho ive tried everything
so i dont know if everything caught up withher on not
i dunno it was a day n a half and she passed so it was really fast

I'm sorry to hear that and I think I know what happend................. I think she got impacted.
From what you said it sounded like her stomach was getting really messed up BUT IM NOT SURE!!!!!!!!!!! I just am a dreamer of being a herp vet.

Maybe cricket parts caused an impaction? Do you provide calcium and D3 and give her any breaks from breeding? That takes A LOT out of the females...

I agree with okapi it was probably cricket or mealworm parts and that combined with no D3 and calcium is probably what caused it.

Could there have been a small amount of sand in the gut from the previous owner having it on sand that started a blockage that gradually built up over time with things that would't normally be a threat?

she had calcium and d3
and she was on sand like over a year ago
she only went thru one breeding season since i had her(i was told they were both females so i didnt seperate em) she laid like every 2 weeks....
guess she started off badly and never really recoverd

Yeah that could be the problem but dont hit yourself over it it could have happend to the greatest of breeders in this world. Dont blame yourself for this unfourtunance im sorry u lost her she sounded great.
