Just ordered new encloser!

Finally found the one I was looking for, coming from Boaphile Plastics. After doing extensive research for housing a young Crotalus Atrox, this setup is by far the safest in my humble opinion. Having two front doors, hinged at the bottom, with twin keyed locks (cannot remove keys without locking), and a full divider in center of cage.

I will make a slight modification to divider, in order to contain Ms. Gadsden on either side, while I'm working the other. Making two slider doors on either side of plastic divider, I will be able to shut one side off, hopefully the side she's not in. The one I ordered is the 422T, 48 X 24 X 17 1/2, coming with two flexheats, and thermostat. I'm installing lights once it arrives. Jeff, with Boaphile Plastics was very helpful, and looking forward to Ms. Gadsden's new living quarters.

I'll have to post a pic or two, once I get her situated in her new home.

ive been thinking about ordering a cage or two from boaphile and i wasnt sure whether they would be safe for hots or not. im planning ahead for the future when i will hopefully keep a few hots so i want any cage i buy from now on to be hot compatible. thanks for posting and i cant wait for the pics:)

Thanks Reticsrule, I'll be sure to post her pics, when her cage arrives. Will have a bit of natural habitat decorating for both of our enjoyments.

What I gathered of hot cages, probably the worse entry, looking for a bite, is top entry, as they can easily strike in upward motion. Giving them the respect they dolly deserve, I want fool proof set-up, for years of wd enjoyment.

Some others that cost about the same give or take, such as visions, have a dangerous lip just above the front door that snakes lay there, many times without being noticed, until too late. I find this Very dangerous, especially for a novice hot handler like myself.

The big determining factors was no hidden lips that snakes can hide, and having divider system that I can close off one side or the other. Making every effort NOT getting bit.

She's not that big yet, being in a 10 gal. critter cage, she's in somewhat hibernation, only seeing rarely getting a drink, or expel waste. Ate two mice the first week I got her, then dening up for long periods. Was told, just wait, she'll be quite active, eating and growing like a weed. Wonder if I should've ordered a six foot cage? :medcyclop

well, western dbacks grow to be the 2nd largest rattlesnake in North America topping out at upwards of 6-7 ft. and pretty heavy bodied. i suppose you could have gone with a 6 ft. cage but look at the bright side, if she grows out of it you can get her a 6 footer and have a spare 4 footer for another snake lol;)
