I'm considering getting a lizard & am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I would like one that is good about being handled so I'm thinking of a bearded but I'd like to check out as many options as possible. My boyfriend is getting a veiled chameleon so I'd like something different. Thanks!

Try checking out skinks, in particular, Blue Tongue Skinks. They're my personal favourite as far as lizard pets go. I had beardies, although alot of people adore them, I just wasn't that fond of them. But to each his/her own.

My first thought was also a Blue tongue skink... I have 4 and wouldn't trade them for the world. They are so personable and you don't have to feed them anything live. I'd suggest a Northern or an Indonesian. The Northerns are better eaters and they bother are on the calmer side. Babbies are always full of huff and puff... :)
These 2 are my northerns Blueberry(left) and Puff(right).

Bearded dragons where my foundation reptile and I use to breed them. They would be my second choice.

This is my Northern Gimli:

I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world and he's just the first of many skinks to come. If you want something a bit on the smaller side, I'd go with Schneider's Skinks or Fire Skinks.

Of all the reptiles i've worked with, i like crested geckos the best, with blue tounges a close second. Beardies smell, IMHO. Cresties are handelable, cute, easy to care for, don't need a ton of space or special lighting, you can feed them a prepared diet.
It's exciting picking a new lizard pet! I reccomend uromastyx(spiny tail agamas AKA Dabb lizard). There are a wide range of uro species to choose from, they come in all different colours, they are easy to handle and make great display animals as they are active during the day. The only down side to this species is it is sometimes difficult to come by captive bred animals. The WC ones can be very difficult to acclimate. You can see some of my uromastyx at the following website,

Good luck!
