i have a male albino burmese about a year and 4 months old and about 9-10 feet long about 30lbs, since ive had him he has eaten every meal never refusing, until recentl, i feed him a 6lbs rabbit after 2-3 weeks i tried to feed him another rabbit about 3.5 pounds and he wouldn't take it. i waited another 3 weeks and tried again and again refuse. now he looks like he is hungry and shows interest when he smells the food defrosting, but as soon as i try to give it to him he wont take it. could he be going off fed because of breeding season or winter.

Hey jjpython,

This is the time of year where Male and female burms could start refusing food due to breeding instincts. This is only one of many causes for food refusal.

Just like any other feeding problem check you stats make sure it is all in order.
Another thing to keep in mind snakes only need something like 66% of there body weight each year therefore your snake could be exercising self control which I doubt but it is possible.

My male is acting the same right now. He is always cruising around as if looking for food, but refuses if I present it to him, he just smells it, then turns his head away. He did this for three days, then he found my female burm and curled up on top of her and has been there for almost a week. I don't notice any breeding going on, but as long as they are happy I will leave them together. Your male is probably looking for a mate, and will continue to until his desires pass.
