We had a 6 month old Blood Python that was eating live mice. Since we were feeding live he got mites, and we started using Natural Chemistry Reptile Reilef spray treatment in the tank and on him. The mites started dying off and then we had to put him sleep (lower temps.) b/c we had a hurricane and lost power for like a week. After that we tryed to feed thawed to no success, so this feeding we tried live again. Usually he eats it when we turn off the lights, but this time he didnt. So we left him there overnight. This morning we woke up to a dead mouse and snake. It seemed that he tried to swallow the mouse but threw it up. Its a wierd thing b/c a few weeks ago we lost a baby Ball python, kept in a totally different room, the same way but without the mites, although he was suffering from stomachitis. He was just starting to eat again and he died in his sleep, b/c he was in his hide curled up. Both snakes were both from different breeders, the blood was CB and the ball was WC, both were in different tanks in different rooms, and never shared anything. I dont think its a airborne disease b/c I have two more snakes, except both of them at least two years old and I have a handful of geckos that are unaffected. Anyone has experienced this? Should I keep the Blood frozen for examination?

sorry to hear about your loss:( that is really strange that you also had a ball die the same way not too long ago. i would think that the one week without power would have had something to do with it but i could be wrong.

I am thinking that has something to do with and the low pressure from a hurricane also played a deal in it too. My ball died long before the storm though. Why did my other two older snakes go unaffected? Could it be cause they are more older and stable? Its kinda of upsetting b/c I lost 2 of my breeding female Cresteds and all my eggs due to the power outage. I had 6 Crested eggs and 2 Striped Mud Turtles eggs.
