well I have been thinking real hard and have decided to hold off on a retic until I have more experience... I am going to get like a larger but not huge species of python (or boa) such as carpet python, hog island boa, etc...I somewhat think I am ready but do not want to take a chance at something that might be real aggressive and 16ft is still real big...

any snake is what you make it.... hand raise a baby retic from a hatchling, care for it as if it was your baby - and it will grow to be a 16ft+ teddy-bear.

i just had to say something cuz people throw around the reticulated python name way too harshly - you got to realize that with all the idiosyncracies that are present in all snakes, when it boils down to it a snake is a snake - if its wc it will act wild, if captive bred it will still act wild, but can be conditioned to human contact.

out of all the reptiles i have owned - the reticulated python has been the most rewarding for me.

wait till you are in you mid 20's and have a good job, have a house - and can properly house a retic before purchasing a CAPTIVE BRED BABY to raise yourself!!!

Good decision to wait. Talk with your mother and father about your decision and please let them help you in making it. Chances are you will have times you will be unavailable to care for your pet and they will have to step in. You still have college, apartment living, and a whole load of fun stuff awaiting you. If you let them be a part in the decision making process it will pay off in the long run and they will be more available to help when you need it financially and physicially.

I would say go with a CB Carpet. They are amazingly docile. good feeders and just an amazingly beautiful snake. I believe that within the next few years carpets will be right up there with ball pythons as the perfect beginner snake. Many people tell me kings are the best but most of my kings were finicky eaters so i say go with a nice JCP . good size, lower weight and all the best in looks.

I am wanting some species of carpet but not wanting a beginner snake but more intermediate... (I might go with JC anyways though) one question... wouldn't diamand@central carpet hybrid be more $ than a purebred central?

I am wanting a central carpet because I like the pattern and size of them...
