I am going to be buying some ball pythons pretty soon imported from the States. I live in South Africa. Ball pythons are really popular and a normal goes for $300 easy. We are seriously limited with morphs if any and I would love to get in that action but my bank account is even more limited. I'm still studying and would like to get my ball collection on its way. I have decided to start with three balls. What do you think would be better to start off with?

Erm...BP's are $300 in South Aferica? No way!! Or is that after your shipment goes through CITIES, thats the cost to **** it there? Normals in the states - babies, usually $50-65 USD. Adults are like $80-100 USD; all captive bred.
If you want a nice het, but have limited funds, why not breed your trio? The 2 females and the male? If C.B. normals really sell for $300 in S.A. then you would make a decent profit; selling within your country. Although, I am not sure what the currrency is like over there..;)
Good luck.

Buy three female normal at the first year because they need more time to mature. then save you money to buy a pastel male at the second year.
Good luck

I would second the three female purchase but I wouldn't get into pastels if you're looking to make any real money, they pastel market is all but in the crapper in North America. Save up and get a mojave, albino, orange ghost or spider. Good luck.
