I'm looking to buy my first set of snake probes...

Is there any real differences with the sets out there?

I'm looking at 2 sets, both are ball tip sets of 6. One is made by Midwest, the other I don't know. Both are new. Both appear to be good quality but I have not seen them in person. Only difference other than one being a brand name, is the set of Midwest Probes, the 2 smallest ones have a thumb loop. The set of Midwest is double the $ of the other set.

Money is an issue, but so is having something that will last me a long time, and is of good quality. I learned the hard way that cheaping out sometimes is not worth it LOL.

But, is a probe a probe? They are both stainless steel.

Thanks for any thoughts/advice.

Personally I prefer the ones without the ball tips, especially the smaller probes for hatchlings. I think the bigger ball end makes insertion more difficult & in the case of small hatchlings makes it harder to probe them accurrately. My opinion anyway, other than that a probe is a probe to me as long as they are both stainless steel. Mark
