View Full Version : New Owner Of Milk Snake And Overall Animal Lover
Hello All, I Am Scott, But Please Call Me Meltos As it would be much easier to remember. I have just recently turned 16 (10th October) and i received a birthday present of a Milk Snake. He Is Called 'Mirage' and is 4 months old. I have had him a day, I fed him today, and he ate fine, Thank God! I had to in courage him to eat, But he did. He Is A Nelson's Milk Snake (Apparently)
A Little More About me, I stay in sunny Scotland :monkey: I am in college studying 'Animal Care'. I will be doing the full 3 year course. I am just into the first 2 months so far and enjoying it so much. I have never had a snake, let alone a reptile. So I need help along the way. And I hope You guys could help me xP
This Is Mirage Below.

Thats Great To Know, Thank You Very Much...'Urd'. Could I Ask What Do You Do Now? Work At A Zoo Or Something. As I am looking towards a Zoo Keeping career. Well anyway, thanx for a other comment on confirming it's a Nelsons. As Im not 100% sure. I will PM you instead, As this could be classed as Spam. Well thank you for the warm welcome.
Also, Do you have any Care Sheets for Milk Snakes. As I was planning on purchassing a corn snake, but came across and Milk instead. He's Sleeping Just Now. Should The Head Mat Be Left on at all times.
Vivarium Is Plastic, And Heat Mat Is Placed on half of the viv. The reading today was 90, and 80 on kool. Is this to much or too less. The Seller Said, 80-90 Is Correct, But more says is better.

And Omg, I Dont Shut Up.
looks ok to me, but im more of a boa person. Im sure some of the milksnake keepers on here could help?there is a forum dedicated to them, you should be able to find all the info you need there. If you google nelsons milksnake care it should turn up lots of results. hope this helps:)
Hmmm, Just Done A Temperture reading on the heated side, And I hit 85, This Is At Nite (12:42 am) It said it should be atleast 10-20 F below normal temperture at night. Daily it is 85-90 temperture. The coll side is 80 :| Whats Going on. I dont want this ti go wrong. My Heat mat does not have a toggle or anything, So i cant change tempertures etc. I really dont know what to do, There is no threads on the Milk Snake Care, Just King Snakes. Im really worried for some reason.
