i was just courious if anyone knows the best product for temp readers and hydro readers at a relatively cheap price...

also, does it make a difference if my housing is decked out with fake plants or real ones?

one more thing; i have tried 3 different locations for subtrate and every kind i get seems to be plagued by little *dust mites*? or so the store clerks say. is there any subtrate, besides newspaper and papertowel, that won't be issued with passengers?

i got a great deal on a dual probe thermometer/hygrometer from bigappleherp.com. i think it was around $30 and it works great. if your using live plants, your going to have to keep watering them, thus rising the humidity levels. whatever substrate you get, bake it in the oven at 250* for about an hour. that will kill anything living in it.

if your setting up a tank for a ball, i wouldnt go the real plant route. no matter how nice you make it look, that snake will tear everything up at night when he's exploring.

Indoor/outdoor thermometer/hydrometers can usually be found at Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Rona, or some of the large home decor places. I bought a few a while back. I dont recall how much they were, but it was Cdn $40 or less.
