oh...what dahell :p it's one of those situations when you are so excited about something that you just wanna tell everybody...even though you know they don't care. :D

A project i have been (slowly) producing for almost 4 years is finally going to see the light of day. It's called "the barbarians" and it's sort of Conan meets WWE. (But with a decent theme gimmick for a change) everything from weapons, clothes, props was supervised 100%.

A barbarian cage is set, live, near the audience. Fearsome warriors from a bygone era (sort of, lol) are gathered there for the ultimate battle among themselves. Who will win??
We are having a tv promo soon and already have a few gigs signed up.
I'm adding new warrior profiles very soon and info. Though i doubt you can read portuguese, go ahead: www.fblog.noite.pt/barbaros

I had no problem reading it.

It was entertaining. :)

you should try to work something where wrestlers meet UFC guys . . . now even I would pay to see that. mabye try to merge the 2 somehow as an exehibition (sp?)

Hi, WiLL.
mmm...UFC guys are prepared to fight for real, while wrestlers are not. Besides those are diferent companies. I don't see a mix, there!

Now, the "Barbarians" are actors, and it's a whole other project. For us it's not just important the adrenaline and action involved, but also the plot/set preparation. We want to TAKE the audience on a real trip to a forgotten time and place for an hour or so... at least inside their minds.

awww, them not mixing is what i was hoping for!!! who knows, it might bring a little credibility back into the world of wrestling . . . if the wrestlers could hold their own that is.

thats too bad, i was really looking forward to seeing something like that . . . kinda like in Rocky (3??) when he fought hulk hogan. the barbarian thing still sounds pretty cool tho, you should try to ger arnie (the origional barbarian) in for a cameo.

I am not much into the "fake" wrestling, but I think it was a year ago or later maybe 3 who knows - where Ken Shamrock (UFC) was on WWE "known as the most dangerous man in wrestling" for a bit. Could be wrong but I think it was Shamrock.

Either way it was started a bit there, didn' t fly to high on that idea, but the one mentioned here could bloom :)

PS: Hi Jimmy.

yah it was ken shamrock in the fake wrestling as the most dangorous man alive and then he fought a couple times after that in the last couple years in ufc....and got beat down.i think a ufc fighter would mangle any WWE wrestler within one weight class or more anyday. whereas wwe fighters train in jumping from ropes and such ufc fighters train in striking and submisions. but is this babarian program the thread is about all fights or is it like a reality show?

wow. i'm surprised this thread is still going.
cheech, the barbarians are (in real life) people already connected to artistic performances, not just guys recruted out of a gym. King Kwazuba is a rapper, for example, not too many people know that...

I wanted people that could ACT, because i didn't want that WWE fake looking fights, but there's gonna be 50% of improvised fighting as well. So, in the end, not even I know the outcome of this whole thing. I can only tell you that it will be A LOT more brutal and violent than wwe (but i hope that more artistic as well).
Oh, and another thing, we will have some weapon duels also. Fights where swords, spears, axes and such can be used. Now that's scary...
