Is a 60w light bulb that same as a 60w basking lamp?? Any info will greatly be appreciated! THANKS!
:dumb:
I believe the uvs are the main thing of a basking light. Regular bulbs don't give off the uvs that the reptiles need. If anyone knows about the stages of molting in pythons I could use some info.
Snakes do not need uv lamps so don't waste your money on one. get a bog standard 60w flood lamp wired with a dimmer switch so you can adjust the temp untill you have it right, if you need it warmer just increase the wattage of the bulb.
I use a 250w heat lamp with dimmer in my 4ft by 2 ft enclosure for my burmese, sounds high but using the dimmer I can keep the hot end @90 deg no mater how cool the room gets

Basking light just means any light the animal basks under, could be a spot bulb, a regular bulb etc. When someone mentions a basking bulb I would never assume they would mean a uv source......
