Hi All,
I've been trying to find some calcium without D3, but haven't come across anywhere in my searches, so I was wondering where you guys find yours? Anywhere online?
Thanks,

I believe I bought mine at PCPC, and I learned from a bad experience that the manufacture is a very important part of that. Trust the big name companies ex. Rep-Cal. Most reptile stores stock Rep-Cal products and at most reptile shows as well.

I've only ever been able to find Rep-Cals' calcium with D3 or their herptivite.
I used to use dragon shack farms' calcium, but found it gave me lots of egg problems.

This is where i buy my vitamins and calcium from
herpsupplies (http://www.herpsupplies.com/subcategory.cfm?id=14&sub=10)
I've never used anything but rep-cal . I believe it is the best on the market.
It comes in a small, round, plastic container. It is about 1.5" high and mebe 3" in diameter. The label on it is pink.

Check the pictures (and info) on the Rep-cal Supplements webpage (http://www.repcal.com/supp.htm) so you'll know what to look for. The pink label does have D3 in it, you want the green label.
I do use Rep-cal but my #1 brand of mineral supplements is Miner-all - either I or O. The "I" does have D3, the "O" doesn't have any. I use Miner-all "I" 90% of the time, just dilute it a bit with Rep-cal without D3. Back in the days of my chams going outside, I used "O" for them, they made all the D3 they needed while outside. I also add "O" to the various gutload mixes.
I can't say I"m shocked and surprised about your results from that other brand though. I just read the info on their site and the labels, decided that I'm not using it if they can't even get the info straight.

Amanda: The manufacturer's calcium that you had egg problems with, is the one that I did also. I use Miner-All I as well and I have had no problems with either Rep-Cal or Sticky Tongue Farms products.

I use Miner-All I (so with D3) as well. That's been my main supplement since I discovered that my Dragon Shack calcium was not good for my guys. This past year has been a learning curve for me!
I can seem to find the Rep-Cal with D3 everywhere I go, the Green label I've only been able to find from places that won't ship to Canada! It's thoroughly frustrating!
I checked out that HerpSupplies website, but it would cost me $30CAD to get it to my door. I must be able to get it cheaper than that for a little container!

Go to PCPC website, and on the supplies/vitamins it is listed for $9.99. He stocks it as well as ships it. It is Rep-cal Calcium (green label).

I would think they'd sell it at The Reptile Store in downtown Hamilton. The few times I've been there I didn't check for it, but I did see a big selection of supplements, just can't recall which ones they had. If you can wait a month, you can get the right stuff at the November PCPC show. For the cost of shipping you could get into the show and have a fun day while you're at it. ;)

The Reptile Store only has Rep-Cal with D3, I've checked.
I probably will wait. I don't have anyone laying right now, so they should be ok with just the Miner-All for another month and a bit.

I Use BONE-AID powder by T-Rex, it's just pure calcium carbonate and has worked for me for years....not sure where you could buy it in your area, try online maybe

If I win the lottery with 4 8 15 16 23 42, should I rejoice ... or worry?
you would have to worry cause you would probably share it now with lots and lots of people who used your numbers now lol jk :greenflam :toilet:

Just curious why you need calcium without d3...are you using uv lighting or keeping them in a sun room?

My guys get enough D3 from the Miner-All I, which contains it. I don't want them to overdose on the D3.
They aren't under UV or in a sun room. They get the occaisional fieldtrip outside in the summer when the temperature is right.
I am just following in the steps of other breeders that are more experienced than me. At the last PCPC show I asked around a bit, and found that this was the consensus as the best method.

I have never used mineral-all. I feed my crickets a lot of fruits and veggies and I dust them with rep cal d3. I add a pinch of calcium to my geckos fruit mixture before feeding once in a while. I have never had any deflatted eggs and so far only 4 bad eggs out of 90. Perhaps I'll try mineral-all for a change see if I noticed any difference in my pets. Is it needed if I use a fresh fruit mixture and gut load my crickets properly? I'd be concerned about too many vitamins...hee hee. I guess there's always something you have to worry about.

Miner-all is minerals, you have to use a different product if you're trying to supplement vitamins (except for Miner-all I which has Vit D3)
Vitamins are reasonably easy to get in a decent diet and gutload for insect prey. What's not too easy to obtain are minerals - quite often one 'something' in the food will hinder or bind with the minerals to make them hard or impossible to absorb. Some minerals also have to be present in order to absorb or utilize another mineral or vitamin. And there's also a few that are hard to find in captive diets which are in Miner-all.
I've one or the other Miner-all since they became available here in Canada - probably around '98 or '99. I noticed an almost immediate improvement in the animals - health, activity, appearance and breeding success. I know there are a lot of good reputable products that work just as well, but I'm happy with the combo I use, no need to change what ain't broke ;)
What kind of egg problems were had with Dragon Shack Farms? What exactly is wrong with their product so I can look for similar problems in future purchases?

The only big difference I noticed when I switched to their product was with my breeder girls (leos and fatties) as the eggs were very thin and molded over within a week or two. I did not get one egg hatch from my two breeder girls that were proven egg layers from the year before. I immediately switched calcium to rep-cal (the product I used to use) and waited a few months before introducing my males with any more females. The remainder of the breeding year was excellent. All viable eggs/healthy hatchlings etc.
Since then, I have always added a dish of pure calcium with all my breeder girls (cresties, fatties and leos). I have never had any hatchling not be able to break open the egg because the shell was too hard. That was a concern as it was brought to my attention that too much calcium could do that.

Thanks Nash, but I should be fine until the November Reptile Show out here. I should be able to pick some up there without having to worry about shipping. Plus it gives me an excuse to go to it!
The problems I had with my eggs mostly related to thinness. If I 'candled' my eggs, they looked like the globe, with patches that were thinner, and others that were thicker. I had two of these eggs start leaking a few weeks before the expected hatch date, which resulted in two dead in egg babies. I had one egg out of 5 that molded. The other 2 didn't make it for some reason, I'm not sure if it was that they were infertile, or the caclium problem, but they didn't mold, they just didn't grow, and then eventually deflated after a few monthes. I believe the were infertile come to think of it.
