Hey all,
I know that ETB's are notcturnal, but mine seems to be sleeping all the time...day and night, every once in a while, like every few hours, it'll find a new spot to sleep, but other than that it doesnt really do anything, is that normal or is mine just lazier than most?
Could it be stress?? i have only had her a few weeks, and in that time I moved her in, dealt with some mites (which were very efectively whiped out by nix), and then changed had to change her home to a better one...
I may just be paranoid, I just want her to be happy...
thanks,

Hey,
One thing, just to clairify, I DIDN'T expect it to sing and dance or put on a show, for that I would have got a dog or monkey or something, I just didnt excpect it to stay so still....
Thanks in advance for your opinions....they are much appreaciated.
The life of a tree boa:
- hang out on a branch until hungry
- when hungry, hang head in an S shape, and wait for food to come along
- eat whatever comes close enough to grab
- go back to start
Seriously, tree boas do very little. They are amubush predators. The will likely move around to find water when necessary, but they dont do muchg else.
Are you allowing a night drop in temp? Are you using a 12/12 light cycle? We have 18 emeralds in our permenant collection. Every one activily "hunts" when the lights go out or get lowered. Most will hunt right after they have eaten. Even the 3 neonates that were born on 9/2 are "hunting" at night. Usually, an emerald that is not showing this behavior is having environmental issues or is sick. Give some details of your temps, humidity, lighting, enclosure size and animal size.

Ok, some details...
The temp is about 80 during the day, I set the temp in my room to 70, so at night I just turn of the bascing light and it goes down to about 75....
The humidity is around 80-90%
She is housed in a rubbermaid type container for a little while, I am remodeling her permanant enclosure, the rubbermaid is about 2 x 1.75 x 2 (lxwxh)
I use a sunglo bulb for basking/heat durning the day, it is mounted outside to prevent the snake from getting to close....it is on from 7am-7pm...
when that light turns off a red one turns on, I was under the understanding that those didnt bother them, its just to keep the temp from dropping to far, and also so I can see the snake at night (i work shifts so i spend alot of time whatching it at night)
I also have a water dish with a heat pad under it to keep humidity in the other enclosure, but dont need that in the rubbermaid...
hope thats all you need to know...
One more thing, perhaps it knows I am there? maybe it does move at night, just when I am not looking....I might try setting up my web cam on motion capture..se whats going on when i am not around...
Thanks
I looked at the temporary enclosure in your other post. If the perch is pvc, you might want to rough it up with sandpaper. Sometimes if they don't feel secure on the perch they won't hang down to hunt. Also if the height is to low, they can't hang comfortably. You might have to wait until the other enclosure is ready to get her to "hunt". Has she taken any meals in your care? Does the humidity drop off at night?

well, yea, the perch is a bit textured already, i dont think that would be the problem, I will keep an eye on the humidity at night, i just kinda figured if the temp was going down, so was the humidity.
She hasnt eaten yet in my care, she apparently ate a few days before i picked her up, and its been a few weeks, so probly anytime now...
She does seem to be getting ready to shed though, drying up abit around the head, and eyes are cloudy...
I think you should wait until she is settled into her new haunts and see how she reacts. If she begins "hunting" offer a meal. I forgot to mention that they will act as you described when in shed. Some of ours will eat during shed, some will not.
