9foot, 5+ year old burm?

i went over to my dads friends house yesterday and he has a 9 foot albino burm. he told me that it is AT LEAST 5 years old. he then told me that he thinks it is a female because it has small spurs. i told him that spurs werent a very good indication of gender and that it had to be a male. but my question is, arent burms supposed to be 6-8 foot after their first year? is it possible that his is just a runt male? does anyone else know of any small burms that are that old? thanks:)

i think breeders are trying to get dwarf burms on the market, your dads friend might not be feeding properly either. either way he's pretty lucky to have a 5 year old burm at only 9 feet, it would be best to find someone who knows what there doing and pop or probe it to determine sex.

if it is a female, get her a small male and try to produce dwarfs of your own.

It is completely possible for a 5 year old burm to be only 9 ft. More them likly to be male though.
Burms that are 8-10 ft by there 1st b-day usually are fed alot of food in there 1st year and are normally female.
I have a male burm that did not break 10' until he was 6 years old. Now he is about 8 yrs and over 12 ft i dont expect him to get much longer but i suspect he will gain alot in girth over the years to come.
The actual average adult lenght of burms is brutally exagerated by many people.

my male albino burm in august was a year old and he is over 8.5 feet and i didn't power feed or anything. i also had a male burm at 1 1/2 was 9 feet and weight 45 lbs he was a big boy. i think it has to do with the individual brum itself and of course how much you feed it. but a 6 yrs old burm only 10 feet thats different

he is only feeding it one rabbit a month so that my be the reason it is so small. it also hasnt eaten in two or three months. he tried to feed it a rabbit(f/t) when i was there yesterday and it wouldnt take it.

iLLwiLL: he only has the burm and a BCI so he is not planning on trying to produce dwarf burms lol:D

1 Rabbit per month is enough food for a 5 year old burm. as long as the snake overall condition is good you have nothing to worry about.

i would say its only 9 feet because its not eatting as much, i feed my adult burms more then once a month. im not sure how much other people feed theres.

There is alot of different opinions about how much to feed a captive burm. I personal think many in captivity are fed more then what they need. I feed my adult burms every 4-6 weeks others beleive if they will eat; then feed them. The truth is these are all just opinions and animals kept both ways have lived very long and healthy lives
