I am thinking about gettiing a red tail boa or a ball python. Ive done a lot of reasearch on both and ive heard that the ball python is a difficult eater, I was wondering whether or not a red tail boa has these problems and if it prefers on type of food to another like live or frozen. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

they all like live to dead.and red tails get a lot bigger them ball pythons so you need more room for them.i would if it was me get a ball python over a red tail.i have 8 ball pythons and two red tail and the ball pythons are easy to look after even with there eating habits.but that is just me.

It basically comes down to space and expense between your choices. A boa will want and need more space and will eat many more times in quantity than a ball python. Both are great choices but the 2 are very different and have 2 extremes in choices to pick from. I love them both but will always pick boas over pythons :)

i've had ball pythons, and just recently traded all of them away for boas. if you have the space, boas are way more rewarding in the long run. if your looking to breed, boas have about 3-4 times the babies in one clutch than a BP. the only time i've had problems feeding fresh kill to my boas is when there breeding, or new juvi's that havent settled into their new home yet.

any snake can be a problem feeder, but you hear way more cases of juvi ball pythons not eating. i think its mainly their nature. balls are more of a timid snake that likes tohide all day while a boa is more active and rarely refuses a meal.
