Ok, I'm getting a little confused about what actually constitutes a jungle morph. Is it just a co-dominant aberrant pattern? Does it have to eventually come from the ones Peter brought over or can it be from another breeder? Plus I see some normal looking boas being sold as Jungles. PK himslef has one on his website that doesn't appear to have have an abberrant pattern that is being sold as a Jungle for $2500. I see some that go for as high as $6000. Do Jungles also have to have a high contrast or high amounts of red in the tail? Any insight about these morphs would be greatly appreciated.

Jungles have been a serious craze especially in the USA this past year. Loads of debate on other forums on what is a true Jungle over many that have poped up from many new breeders and well know top notch USA breeders. There are many with the "look" and a fraction are really deserving of the name. But equally there has been just as many with the real lineage, though some look nothing more than normals with the trait in the genes. Peter is one source as well as Celia, and Samantha / Derek both as well as Celia have produced some of the most tempting Jungles this year. There are others as well. As you mention the classifieds carry many with the name brand "Jungle" price tag, but be very careful on who has them and who advertises them without true paperwork either from Peter or European lines.

I can' t find the post off of another forum where Celia easily explained the diffferences between the real thing and the copies. For almost a month the Jungle debate was well discussed and new information was stated but a clear self explainatory came from Celia and the overall discussion agreed with the new information.

Goodluck.

Thanks for the info. If you come across that thread again I would be interested in what it had to say. I just bought a boa that was said to be a jungle. Even if its babies has the aberrant pattern can I sell them as jungles? I just want to make sure that I am properly labeling my snakes.

That is where the debate started. Basically a couple of people began selling and showing serious interest in this line. The debate came up on 2 main points. One are all Jungles true Jungles that are listed and advertised and number 2, characteristics that prove a Jungle to be a true Jungle. Of course true paperwork from the Swedish lines would be the best proof, no one could contest that after. But then getting them from second sources like Celia, and Peter and others should also be just as good because they would carry the same paperwork from the original source. If you paid the high dollar on this boa and got it from a top breeder who has to give you the copies of there proof it is a Jungle line then your set to venture forward to claim you have a Jungle as well. To go about it without that paperwork and claim a Jungle or having a Jungle litter in years to come from this boa will not always be contested unless someone brings it up later in a post about your line.

I remember in that debate one fellow claiming there was no true way to visually determine a Jungle, but he later had to rethink that claim because he was passing off some babies as Jungles when this debate broke out and real information came up to contest his claim and his litter. Few after believed he had Jungles but more just really nice normals. The others that believe in his litter and later breed those babies will be the ones who can say if they were ripped off or not.

Goodluck.
