I have a big cage that houses 2 female retics. It's a tall enclosure with branches on the top part. Those branches are more of a decoration since the pythons are so big and heavy that they are almost always on ground.
Those snakes don't like to eat dead animals, so i have to feed them live bunnies. Sometimes it's a smooth easy job, other times it's messy. When (and only when) there's blood spilled on the floor of the enclosure, the pythons will always climb those branches, like some urge.
I think i understand that. In the jungle, that blood would atract big predators. the snake would be defenseless, especially with a full stomach. I believe they have an instinct that tells them that they are saffer up on the trees when there's blood on the floor.
Could it be that?
