hi everyone im new and i was wondering what would be a good second snake?.......my first snake is a rosy boa

You've got many different options. I'd personally recommend to stick with a beginner-type snake. If you like boas and pythons, I'd say a ball python, as long as you can handle an occassionally picky feeder. Otherwise, corns and kingsnakes are awesome choices. Do some research on different snakes, and search through these forums. The topic is a popular one. :)

I'd say instead of a Ball, a Spotted Python. If you like boids. But it's easier to tell people which snakes you're interested in getting and then get opinions on each.

Ball pythons are amazing, except for mine, mines a Effin A%%hole. Mine bites me all the god damn time, even when im changing his water or substrate, but every other Ball python ive encountered has been amazing. I would highly recommend getting one or two. Mine hasnt had a problem with feeding, and i dont forsee him having one, he strikes at the rat pretty much even before he hits the ground in his enclosure. I just fed him a small rat today, and hes only a month and bit old. Hes eating like a horse, i took some pics but the damn camera wouldnt load them cuz it deleted them, ill have some next week. But yea it would be a great snake to get. Their very beautiful snakes. Or you could get a childrens python or like serpenlust said get a spotted python. It all really depends on what you think is cool and what catches your eye and stuff. Look into those snakes, check which ones would be best suited for you. Good luck.

Kronic 2005 Your ball should calm down with time, hes still very young, and just intimitated by you, your a very big predator right..... well in his eyes.... he will definatly calm down

Thanks al, i was a bit worried that he'd be this way for a long time. cause all the other ball pythons at pretty much the same age weren't trying to grnarl my fingers off.. lol. But im convinced he should calm down, ill give him and extra week or two to settle in before handling, ive already had him for 1 and a half weeks. Thanks again.

Depending on budget, experience, space and species you enjoy working with you have many options to consider. Since your first was a Rosy Boa, I' ll assume your a boa fan. A boa to consider that has the look but not the size of larger boas yet still a nice size copy is a Hog Isle Boa. If you want something a bit more challenging then a Rainbow (Brazilian) great color, good size and loads of character. Again these suggestions are based on working with boas and keeping something of decent size. If you wanted bigger than Colombians and morphs and the redtail lines of BBCc will work too.

Like others stated Ball Pythons are a great species to work with as well.
