I have been having an odd problem letely. None of my males are willing to mate. I have tried several cominations, larger male with smaller female, smaller male with larger female, larger male with larger female, smaller male with smaller female. It makes no difference. They all do the same thing. They head bob, run up and bite the females nape, climb on, and sit there like idiots. There is only one breedable female I haven't tried, and that's becuase she gave me seven clutches this year, and is having a very well deserved rest until at least March. Any ideas on why all my males seem to have lost that lovin' feelin'?

That is odd. Maybe he's not old enough? Maybe the females aren't ready to be bred and the male actually know this? Strange because Beardies breed like flies on a poop turd. I'd wait it out and put more weight on the females.

Actually, the males are proven breeders, and the females range in weight from about 300 g to 550 g. I probably just need to work on reseting some of their cycles. Mother Nature is so inconsiderate of peoples schedules. *walks off in a huff*

j/k

The females might need to be ovulating in order for the males to be accepted. Some folks think the girls give off pheromones that the boys can smell, and if they aren't smelling pretty the boys know better than to try.

It's just a theory, but it sounds good. Maybe play with their light cycles to trigger that good old spring fever.
