my retic isnt cb, does that mean hes gunna grow up to be mean?

I recently bought a baby retic, she isnt cb, does that mean hes gunna be mean :medstrung

Generally speaking most people want their animals to be CB and should be whenever possible. ( this helps eliminate taking wild ones from their native homes etc. ) However you obtained your animal is really your business though. You said you have a baby...not an adult ( large ) wild caught with a..well...wild temperment.

Im sure that with gentle handling your animal will become a joy to be around.

Again though...something being CB or not...their temperment really depends on how you treat and care for your animal...These are my opinions anyways.

The one thing i would reccomend is...get it vet checked for parasites and other possible ailments that at this time you're not aware of.

lets just say he was cb, would he turnout allot better, or would it not matter, cb are allot more expensive.

all pythons are individuals...some are mean cb or wild some r not and some may turnout to be ok with a lot of good handling.......there are no hard and fast rules...burmese pythons r some of the most docile snakes ive ever worked with, but then again ive worked with wild caught burms that were absolutly dangerous

If he's a baby, you have the same chances of making him tractable regardless of whether he is cb or wc. The question you want to be asking is "If my retic is WC, does that mean he's full of parasites?"

Gotta agree CB would be better....health wise and such.
As far as mean - that can come from any retic or snake, each has its own personality.
I saw you posted this retic in a few threads regarding a few concerns you have, all together your concern is attitude (being mean) of the retic' s.
Providing a safe secure home and regular handling (this means you must deal with it snapping at you no matter what and kinda breaking that attitude and making it more calm and docile.
Being WC or CB in this matter does not really matter you can have a very docile snake for months and years then it just starts to get testy, it happens....the lucky part is if it never does and stays puppy tame.

Tricks to try that have worked in my experience is the scent method....this means for the next week wear an old t-shirt to bed so by the end of the week it has you scent well induced in it. Then cleaning the retic' s cage remember to add your t-shirt into the cage, and if there is a hide box put it there as well. If you can spare 2 - 3 more shirts get them scented and place in different parts of the cage so the retic just gets consumed with your scent. The idea is to convince the retic or any snake your scent is not a threat, with regular handling and you being very observant of the snake security in your hands and just making it feel relaxed with help the retic assume you are safe and there is no need to be defensive or hungry.

Good luck....this method should be tried for at least 1 month to as long as it takes to see a calm effect.

Just one more note to add to Boas_N_Pythons' post. You may want to get yourself a pair of gloves for the handling of your young tic, so that you can handle him despite his biting. The gloves help, not only because they keep you from getting bitten, but because if he bites you and you put him away, it teaches him that biting is an effective method of getting rid of you, whereas if you have the gloves he will learn not only that you are safe, but also that biting will not deter you from handling him.
