I have read alot of controversy pertaining to this subject. I read about people having UVB, not having it, and I also has a friend that does NOT use UVB. I read someone on here not using UVB for their Savanna also.

So what is the deal? Is UVB lighting for monitors ABSOLUTELY neccessary, or is it just better for them?

Thanks,

Donny

I used UVB lighting for my Savannahs and my Asian water for years going by the old standard, not sure how it improved their overall health.

A friend breeds Savannahs and Niles for years, and she has never used any type of UVB, and her monitors are incredible. She gives all her lizards supplements.
I believe the use of UVB has more importance to lizards that eat a mixture of animal protien/greens or greens exclusivly.
