I will assume you will be at your mothers place one week then your fathers the next, or just a weekend?
If the snake has to be at your fathers place, and you will only be there every other weekend or week, i would reccommend NO snake...
Any type of reptile [ in my opinion] should have fresh water daily, along with regular spot checks every other day, and a good interaction schedule.
The way you descibed your situation, if you were to get a snake, the proper husbanary could not be met, and the snake, no matter what species, would suffer.
