long time ago when i was a kid we had a blue crawfish and we just kept it in the tank with other fish but had to give him to the pet store, because he was killing all the fish, i feel bad i did not know that you need that kind of set up.

Super easy to keep & will eat most anything. As mentioned don't keep with smaller fish or they will go bye bye. Also warning that if you keep them with bigger fish when they shed they are soft for a day or so & put off an irresistable odor that other fish love & they will tear them apart to eat them. Make sure if in with bigger fish they have lots of hiding spots the fish can't access or the crayfish will go bye bye. When they shed leave the shedding in the tank & they will eat it & it will help their "new exoskeleton" grow stronger faster. Sometimes when they go into shed & just lie there folks think them dead but chances are they are just about to shed. I have kept many over the years & they are always entertaining. They will clue in who the food guy is & will stand on their tails all excited waving their claws & will even grab algae wafers from your fingers. Mark
