Mesh Enclosures

I was just wondering if any one has used those mesh enclosures?
because of the humidity up here, i'm looking at getting a few,
and would like to hear from anyone that has used them,
if so what snakes have they been used on,
and are they as stable as i have heard,
would like to use them on diamond pythons,
possibly jungles,

Im assuming your talking about reptariums?
if so, ill give you my opinion....

i dont find them very stable at all, especially if you are putting mid-large snakes in there.

plus, they keep no humidity, which may not be a problem for you since you are in Australia, but it would be a problem here in Canada
so, i guess as long as your ambient humidity is good for the snakes, then it wouldnt be a problem....but if its not, reptariums dont keep any humidity in, so you might have a problem

They are great for Chameleons, but i wouldnt recommend for snakes

Hi Matt,
I guess living here i should be thankful for the exteme heat & humidity,but when the wet is this late again, the humidity get's too much for some of our lil friends,
thats why i was thinking of getting the mesh enclosures,
and tho i have heard of ppl using them for snakes, i thought i'd better do some research first, my biggest worry was in stability, and it seems to be worth worrying about, so thanks for the info,

for all it is worth here is my opinion. I have six repteriums two of them are almost 4 years old. I keep chameleons in them all. They are great for that purpuse. When you get to the larger sizes like 60 gallons and up they are pretty unstable they are only made with light weight pvc. Plus the zipper aren't the highest of quality I thing the a 4-5 foot carpet could push the zipper right out. I use the inside and outside I have to outside and when the temps are right I take my chameleons out into natural sun to bask.

I agree with Matt the were made for Chameleons and not snakes.

might consider making a simple wood frame to set the thing in for better stability

Another thing to consider... if you have a particularily agressive snake (or just one that loves food :flick: ), if it strikes against the screen mesh it could possibly snag a tooth on it... I must agree with Matt and Bill, Reptariums were created for chams, they serve that purpose quite well, but snakes are better off in enclosures made for them :)

none of the diamonds we own are snappy,
they have the most beautiful natures i have ever seen in snakes, truly wonderful handlers.....
i just wish i could introduce you all too some of our snakes

i know, but you guy's get all the cold weather, the rains would at least come regulary there, hahahha,

only thing i would like to do or have is some of your colour morphs, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and maybe some boas, eastern diamond rattlers, corn snakes,
and the list goes on, heheheheh,
