Hi everyone,

I have been trying to get the temps in my Beardie cage just right. But the cool end is too cool. I have a 4'x2'x2' with a 100W flood that gets the basking spot 108 and the mid about 79 with the cool at 72. SHould I put in another fixture for more heat??
Please give me your two cents
Thanks

Depending on the the materials you have your cage constructed out of you could use: human heat pads, heat tape, radiant heat panels, or heat mats for additional heating.

How does your beardie like the 108 degrees? A basking spot can go as high as 115 for adults and 120 for babies and many beardies like it hot! My babies in fact hang out at 118 for most of the day and seldom gape and run to a cooler spot, they just keep running from one hot branch spot to another.

So a cheap and simple solution might be to up your wattage by 25 degrees and see how they do. Most stores will accept returns on a bulb if you say it burns too hot so you don't lose anything but time by trying. And if you put in a rheostat or dimmer switch when you up the wattage, you can always dial it down if it is indeed too hot. :D
