First i hear that colombian redtails are bci, and another site tells me that theres such thing as a colombian redtail that is a bcc as well. i have absolutly no clue whatsoever what this snake is. i need to know if its a bci or bcc. anyone thanks.

Dustan, your positive this is a bci?!? god damn, i was hoping for a bcc.. :(:( how can you be sure? sorry for bothering you, give me some hints and whatnot.
thanks
shaun
I wouldnt say its 100% Columbian BCI...it could be a cross...But by looking at the tail and the saddles I'd say BCI...

Alright. thanks. Anyone else who agrees or says differenly please post, and the reasons why, i want to be 99.9% sure if possible. thanks.
I tried to find a BCI that looks like yours...this is the closest I found...the second is a pretty common looking BCC

The tail from the Bcc looks similar to the pics i have. the saddles continue on into the yellowishness of the tail, but in the bci pick (top) the saddles stop when the yellow starts and its just big blobs down the yellow of the tail, instead of saddles.
Im thinkin this is a BCC, or i maybe be wrong for assuming this? i dont know
Okay...lol...believe what you want...it's your snake...my opinion is that it is BCI...and im sure other's will agree with me...Anyways...Have a good night...

100 % columbian. There are no signs of any bcc influence.

For sure a bci, and a very nice one at that! a few signs are that the median line on the head doesnt extend to the snout with an outline of a dark brown black, also the line just after the eyes extends left and right ( very rare in bcc) The "hatchets" are not dark enough. but basically it shows every sign of being a bci. still a beautiful snake though!
Cheers

quite a few bci do have the widow peaks as seen in the above photo. saddle shapes are not a definite way to identify a boa. alot of northern bcc have no peaks at all.

.02 worth B.C.I Anice one but a bci
i know im realy gonna regret this..here goes, my son just bought a pair of columbian redtails bcc. i was asured thats what they were. when i compared them to my old pair they sure looked like carbin copies of them. but then again ive been lied to before...lol...but it helps to have somthing rite under your nose to compare them to. to be honest both types are beautiful snakes so you realy cant lose...

bci's stay alot smaller than bcc's. pretty much the same otherwise
bci's stay alot smaller than bcc's. pretty much the same otherwise
Bci and Bcc generally average the same sizes as adults.
Do bcc's have bat shaped saddles?
Here's some pics of bcc's all with different saddle patterns

A trained eye can usually tell right away, There are many ways to tell them apart some are hard to explain but once you see it ya know it.

Shaun, great looking animal.Your right to suspect that your animal is a COMMON COLUMBIAN BOA CONSTRICTOR,CONSTRICTOR.(B.C.C.).COLUMBIAN B.C.C. tend to have redder tails and have the capability of reaching 12 ft. B.C.I normally max out at 9 f.t.I'm not sure what your animal is,so here's some pics of B.C.C.FOR COMPARISON
The first three pictures are the BURK'S line b.c.c. I got the pictures from Ben SEGAL REPTILES.The last pic is from the net,I don't remember who ownes the boa.
These pictures and the animals are not owned by me.
