today while at the pet store a guy called and talked to me about his iguana that was sick, i asked him a few questions and he knows nothing about iguanas, it was his sons iggy and his son stoped caring for it. it didnt not have uvb light or any thing and i highly doubt he was feeding it correctly. i told him to bring it in and give it to me, i figured i would see what i could do for it and if nothing then atleast i tried and he will die suffering less than at this guys house.

he brought it in and it looked like it was going to die right infront of me. its body is so twisted, its spine is in the shape of a C and his head is always to the side. he was very limp, bairly moved at all when i picked him up. his eyes were closed, his fingers were twisted. half his tail is broken off and he can not walk, he squirms around tring to move at all.

when i got some time i got this stuff to feed to very sick reptiles, a reptile aid food. i gave him alot of it. he perkd up well. his eyes opend wide, he was moving more. he was even opening his mouth trying to bite me. right now hes in a temporary cage at my house with a uvb light on him. does any one think he has a chance of living? is there any thing else i can do for him to try and help him? iv never seen an iggy in this bad shape before, im still doubting hes going to live but i want to try as best as i can to save him.

honestly dude I've seen this before
such an advanced state of MDB is incurable the iguana may survive longer in your care but it will always live with that condition

it really breaks my heart to see him like that, im worried hes suffering because hes so mangled and malnurished. sometimes he starts walking but he goes in circles and he cant even see where hes going because his head is sideways so he can only look up and down. i would be so happy if i brought him back to health but it seems like he might be miserable from not being able to function right. what do you guys think i should do?

Personally, this may sound alittle crewl, but Id have him put down. Goodluck on this, these animals need people like you. Whatever choice you make, youll probably do the right thing.

sadly that was on my mind the whole time. i really wanted him to make it but was worried if puting him down would be better than him living a life with so many problems. i checked on him this morning and he had passed away. thanks for the help though guys. ill never stop trying.
