chameleons are a hard lizard to care for and if you want something that you can hold and interact with a cham is prolly not a good choice.

a bearded dragons you can hold and are not to hard to look after.they make a good pet.
my veiled cham is spoiled and I can handle him, but I think it is only because I have spent HOURS each day with him since he was just a few weeks old. He will not come out for anyone else though. I have a second adult veiled that is opposite, he was 2 when I got him and he would rather be left alone. I agree that a bearded dragon is what you are looking for, but time spent with it as with any pet would make a difference in how tame/handleable it is.

Beardies are great pets but their draw back might be the cost to feed them as adultd. (but they are worth every cent)
I think concidering the ease of care and the cost to feed cresties are great for pets. I have never had a problem with them and the ones I had were all very easy to handle. The range of colors are amazing.
