I asked this question on ReptileForum, but haven't received any replies yet. Do any of you have experience with the Kane Heat Mat? It has the capacity of reaching temps over 90 degrees, and is touted as being safe for INSIDE the tank (it will have a thermosat to control the temps so that it never goes over 90, but will remain a constant temperature).
My question is: While I know that 90 degrees of water can be HOT..does a heat mat insulated with Polystyrene(sp?) have the ability to burn my baby Gandalf (BP) if he comes accidentally in contact with it? I plan to have wood substrate covering it and was toying with the idea of having a reptilemat instead of substrate...any experienced users of this mat out there?
