snakes should always be put into a pillow case. lizards, turtles and so forth do better in small dark boxes. make their carrying containor something like what they would hide in in their cage, dark and close to their body.

I agree. Snakes sleep right away in a pillow case...

In a pillowcase? It's dark in there and then a hand reaches in... :monkey: ..or the pillow case is laid on the table and opened... :medstrung: I carry my BP in one of those small pet containers. It's small and tight enough for him to feel secure as we bump along in the car and is opaque but clear enough to see how he's reacting and has open vents to allow him to "smell" and sense me near.

So far it works haven't have any evidence of stress and he sleeps, if I put it on the floor of the car when we are traveling for long periods. :groove:

Use pillow cases for adult snakes , and appropiately sized containers for juvies and babies, as the babies can slip out of a tied bag.

Pillow cases really are the way to go in my opinion. They provide a dark, secure, ventilated place for the snake being tranported. They also cushion the ride too.

oh sorry I meant pillow cases are best for snakes not beardies etc.

I disagree completely with the pillow case idea. In fact, my vet won't even reach into a pillow case for the reason mentioned above - nice, dark, secure place, then a hand reaches in....

You should bring them in a rubbermaid container with a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel for warmth.

Good point Ken I had that happen with a Taiwan male just a few weeks ago.

But for some species I do prefer pillowcases, such as flighty corns or whatever the case may be, pillowcases do come in handy.

The best way to take the snake out of a pillow case is to just roll it down exposing the snake and carefully take it out. so your not just stickin your hand down there. ya know.

But I do change my opinion now and would recommend rubbermaids as you can avoid bites better that way
