Last night on the way home from work (0145 hrs) I saw dozens of Rana pipiens on the road (many DOR) and heard one Pseudacris crucifer calling. The temp. was 9 deg.
Tonight I saw a few more fresh DOR Rana Pipiens on my way home for dinner (2100 hrs).
The Herping may begin!!!!:D

Must be nice! Its still snowing here. I've had about all I can take of this winter, make it stop! I'm still having to shovel the sidewalk and the spring show is a mere two weeks away. If this doesn't change PDQ, we're going to have trouble transporting animals and displays to and from.
The only anurans croaking around here are in my living room. At least there's no danger of roadkill there...

Beautifull little frogs. They're actually the only frog I've kept before. Been thinking about getting into exotics (Darts) in the future, or even White's and White Lipped Trees. When I came back from Nova Scotia last summer, we hit a monstrous rainstorm driving through Quebec, I saw millions of Rana Pipiens hopping across the road, no exageration, there were literally millions. Their environment must be great over there. It's too bad the roads attract so much heat in the summer though, cause as soon as the temp drops, the first place they usually head is for the nice warm pavement.
