Ya, a leopard gecko is the best for starting whether you get a normal or a higher end one, they are all beautiful geckos. I have heard cresteds are ok starter geckos too but require more attention. Does she want something she can hold or just watch?

You could check out Fat-Tails as they're rather docile, even young ones. Or a Crested, or maybe even a Gargoyle!

A leopard Gecko, Fat Tailed Gecko or Cresteds come to mind for holding but with cresteds she has to be more persistant and the gecko will gain trust. Thats all i can think of.

cresteds need a little bit more care and they can be very jumpy and harder to handle. they do make good pet lizards but not for every body. leopards and fat tails are great, iv seen some baby leopards hiss but they dont readily bite. they can sometimes struggle when you hold onto them as well. to make life easier for your sis, have her start with an older animal. even just a few months old when they have some more size to them and arnt as afraid as the little babies are.

I've never had a leo hiss at me, but they do "scream"...a high-pitched wailing squeak, lol.

Leos are good starters for most people. Oviously if she was after just any old type I'd suggest a Bearded Dragon because they are fairly docile, big enough to handle and great fun to keep. Where as Leo's are nocturnal so they are more of a show Lizard than a handle one. Well not really, just not as much action with leos. Cute and prettyful though! But if its Geckos she's after than yeah, leos all the way.
