I got bored over the holiday so I built some cages. the cages are 4'x2'x20" with a bookshelve on the top. behind the bookshelve are the helix controls and the timers. I can access them through a door on the side behind the shelve

I have build another set like that before except it was all one piece, what a pain. These all are individual cages and a bookshelve. the other cage didn't have the shelve I build it to hide the controls. It sucks to build a fancy cage and have the controls sitting on the floor next to it.

All of the glass is no tracks, I only have one peice of glass in, I just wanted to make sure that size worked before I ordered the rest. The cages is made of 5/8 oak vaneered plywood with oak trim boards on the front.

Excellent work Bill and exactly what I need only 6 feet long, for my boa.
Do you have instruction or plans for them? that may help me build my own

Thanks
Brian

asphuxia, I really didn't have any plans for it. I was bored so I bought the material and made it up as I went along. All it is really is a box with a door of some sort. For my door I used glass door tracks and put trim over them to cover them up. It is pretty easy and you don't have to be a carpenter to build one.

No Problem Bill, I really admire them.

I would be great to have a master list as to everything you need for the ideal enclousure...If mine turn out I will do so....I havent ruled out just buying a pre made cage...I will be in touch soon Grant

asphyxia, sorry I can't help you with plans if you know the size you want I can tell you exactly what cuts to make on the plywood. as far as a master list it all depends. some people use sliding doors, some use hinged. Some screw the cages together I have air tools so I used wood glue and finished nailed it together. so it depends on what you like. I made mine out of oak so it was rather expensive but it is going into my living room so I wanted it to be nice. The are also some sites out there on building a cage. My cage is basiclly the same as the cage on a site called-Fine Green Tree Pythons- Here are a few more-Appalachina Reptile Breeders- John Hollister, reptile cages, and Southern colubrids & cages
