View Full Version : need help please!! ball python retaming!!
i have a ball python that is about 2 years old and she was neglected before i got her and as a result she is very untame (she strikes at whoever walks past her tank, shes aggressive, and its very hard to handle her. i could use any advice given pleae help.
thank you
besides feeding and cleaning, regular stuff, leave her alone for a few weeks, let her settle in... after that gradually get her use to handling, you will get bit and there isnt much you can do about it, it takes time... some balls never calm down either, best of luck

Conditioning your snakes to expect handling or feeding depending on how you open the cage or get them out differently can also help. Say you only use a hook to take them out when you want to handle it or need to clean, and only open the lid a certain way when you're feeding can alert them after enough times that this behavior is only before a feeding, etc.
i am new to pythons. so not quite comptent to answer.
but heres what i find from my newgot book pythonsecrets (www.pythonsecrets.com):
ur python can be captive-breed or wildcaught.
if it is wildcaught it will take more time to acclimatized to the new environment. Maintain proper heat levels and humudity by providing proper hidebox and waterbowl. This makes ur python feel secure and makes it acclimatized to the new environment quickly. So the aggressiveness of python will come down.hope it helps.
